Instalation
Collage on Board, poetry, video, clay.
Exhibited at ECA. Work completed in collaboration with Michael di Rienza and Tausif Noor
In creating the installation Apotropaios, Gleizer worked with the poetry and film of artists Tausif Noor and Michael di Rienza (respectively) to create an interractive environment for audience members to question identity and appearance. The poem (Apotropaios by Noor) and the video (Untitled by Di Rienza) are positioned next to the installation. Two cracks, one knocked through a wooden board on which Gleizer collaged and painted story-fragments that aid in identity construction, the other in a clay plaque that decends in indefinite layers into the wall. In order to examine one, the viewer is forced to turn their back on the other. The piece questions how identity is made, how it is formed of stories and whether we can ever see the full picture.
